Live Scare Cams Page Updated!

Hello dear fright fans, I'm pleased to announce that the haunted house live feeds page has just been updated for Halloween 2007! I've just watched all four of the live feeds and they are all working great! The first three have the best video but no sound unfortunately (probably set up that way). The fourth one, Bates Motel, has sound but pretty dark and hard to see as much but the audio helps make up for it! Check 'em out!!!

Sorry I've been out of pocket for awhile...been busy editing my horror flick. But will be adding more here as I can before Halloween so keep checking back!

My New Horror Movie

Whew! Just wrapped up principal photography on my horror movie. :-) Now, on to editing, adding sound effects, pre-screening, etc.

Love it or hate it, you haven't seen anything like this one before. I'm confident of that! ;-)

If you prefer your scary movies to be more cerebral with build-up and "atmosphere" over the gore fare we've been seeing lately, you may just like this movie! If you enjoy supernatural horror like The Exorcist, The Omen, The Blair Witch Project, and Rosemary's Baby, you just might want to check this movie out when it premieres, so stay tuned!

To be among the first getting more info as it becomes available, be sure to sign up for my Fright Club ezine. That's the vehicle I'll be using to collect the emails of people interested in my upcoming spooky flick and keep them posted on the movie's progress.

Burt's Horror Movie Trivia Vault has been spun-off to it's own new site which has just launched!

Due to the high volume of questions, I was no longer able to keep up with all the formatting and posting involved in continually updating The Vault here manually as in the past.

But this is good news overall because the new site means faster posting of your questions, faster responses by your favorite horror movie fiend (Burt), AND... now you and other fright fans around the world can quickly chime in and help provide answers to questions too! Believe me, with the volume of questions, you're help is needed!

Plus, being on it's own domain will bring in even more visitors allowing for a greater chance someone will be familiar with your long lost horror movie. And there'll be even more people to discuss your favorite horror flicks!

Find Halloween haunted houses, corn mazes, haunted woods, as well as "real" scary places at my new site where you can rank and comment on haunts you've been to and read what others had to say about their experiences.

Something Scary This Way Comes...

Just a quick note to mention a couple things as Halloween rapidly approaches!

First, my apologies for the delay in responding to your emails and updating the site with your submissions recently.

Truth is, I've been feverishly working on not only trying to keep up with this site, but to finish my new haunted house site in time to be useful for Halloween.

Well, the new site may not be useful in time for *this* year's Halloween haunted house season, but it will feature more than just those anyway. It will also be your guide to year-round "scary places" and attractions, not just Halloween haunts.

I've also been busy working on the first issue of the Fright Club ezine. Hope to have it go out before Halloween if possible to introduce you to my new "haunted house" site.

And don't forget...Fright Club is where I'll have the horror movie trivia contest where I'm giving away a brand-new Horrorivia game set! Click the link below to read my review. So be sure you're signed up to receive it if you haven't already (it's free, of course).

I've finally gotten around to making my very own, first flash prank! It may be a little rough around the edges, but hopefully not too bad for a first effort.

This first one is a generic e-card that can be used for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, etc. If it's well-received, I may make more.

Species II

I watched this one on AMC this weekend. James Cromwell appears in this flick that I think most fans of scary sci-fi movies would find entertaining.

Fans of Alien might especially enjoy it (or hate it as the case may be) as it borrows a lot from that franchise, even down to hiring H.R. Giger (who designed the original "Alien") to design the aliens in Species II. While this film may be no "Alien", it's still got some scenes you'll enjoy on a night when the pickings are slim.

An American Haunting

Just saw this Saturday on it's opening weekend...The main allure of this movie is that it based on the supposedly "true events" which led to the "Bell Witch" legend of Tennessee. Having lived in Nashville which is not too far from where these events allegedly took place, I was naturally curious about this movie and wanted to check it out. I found it entertaining but not really all that terribly scary. It's definitely interesting, has an overall creepy feel, and some spooky moments though. One thing that helps make this film unique within the horror genre is that it is a "period piece" which is kind of a rare find with the exceptions of such films as Sleepy Hollow, etc. Since most horror films tend to be "low budget", they usually can't afford the luxury of working in a storyline that involves another time period. But the clothing, and lack of modern amenities (candles instead of electricity, etc.) help to set the eerie atmosphere for this flick. Sissy Spacek is among the "name" talent appearing in this movie. Worth seeing, but without any huge effects that really take advantage of the big screen, you may want to just wait for the video release. SPOOKER

Saw II (A Review by Burt)

SAW II

Back again for more tricks with "Jigsaw". It took me a while to rent this one, mainly because I'm not real big on gore and I had heard this one had more than it's fair share. However, "Saw" was just too original for me to at least not check this one out. I can't say I was disappointed. In my opinion, not as good as the original, but still worth a rent. Hard to live up to the first one. There is definitely a decent amount of gore, but not absolutely so much that I couldn't handle it although I did look away on one occasion. Anyways, lots of twists and turns in this one, just like the first. We get to meet Jigsaw in this one and find out a little more about what makes him tick. Look for another sequel for sure.

Stir of Echos

Kevin Bacon stars in this creepy flick that seems to borrow elements from several other movies and mixes them all together into it's own recipe. Even so, it's still a recipe that manages to serve up a unique and entertaining flavor. I found bits of this movie to be reminiscent of Jacob's Ladder, The Shining, and Sixth Sense so if you liked any of those, you may like this one too! SPOOKER

Gothika!

I had never bothered watching this movie until tonight simply because I never heard anyone recommend it and it seems to always have a critic's review of a very mediocre 2 stars at best. But when I saw it was going to be on AMC tonight, I figured the price was right so decided to see for myself if it could deliver the goods.

Wow, was I ever pleasantly surprised. This flick is actually pretty good and underrated IMHO (that's "in my humble opinion" for the acronym-challenged).

This isn't your cheap-thrill slasher flick. This is a great example of "intellectual horror" with a good story behind it. So for those who aren't into anything too deep mixed with their scares, you may be among those who feel this is just another mediocre horror movie. But if you're the type that appreciates a movie that explores the classic "loss of control" horror element, then you'll probably like this one.

Halle Berry stars in this creepy flick that has a great psychological edge, a supernatural element, some gritty atmosphere and a couple of very unexpected surprises.

I liked that the blood and gore factor was relatively "tame"--only enough as needed to tell the story. This movie is about suspense--it's as much a thriller as it is a horror flick.

This movie is a spooker in my book!
